I’m officially a published author with actual book sells! I can’t tell you how blessed and honored I feel. In doing my research about book launches and promotions, I discovered I needed to create a Media Kit and Press Release to send out to promote my novels.
SO THEN CAME RESEARCH… I’m such a librarian’s daughter.
I read articles, looked at fellow authors, BIG AND SMALL and from there I came up with a list of what I wanted to included (taking ideas from other media kits) and came up with my own version for the Grace Series.
BOY, AM I PLEASED!
I think it came out really well. Don’t you?

The first two pages are to grab your interest and tell you what all is included in the media kit. The front cover of the novel followed by the table of contents. (Making my mother, the librarian, a proud momma.)

The next three pages give the nitty-gritty details about the novel. Page 3 is a book synopsis about Restoring Grace to get readers interested in the novel. This came from my back cover. Page 4 gives the author biography and book details such as genre, number of pages, and where you can purchase it, along with available formats. The next page is the release for the novel media/newsgroups can use to promote the book and the author, along with detailed contact information.

Page 6-7 showcase images for promotion, including novel images of varying size and composition. Everything from single book images with a white background to a Kindle cover with a coffee cup and I also include several author shots from my photo shoot with Keira Davis. BLOG POST HERE I also include some of my branded images and logos for media/newsgroups to use as well. The goal is to showcase that even a self-published, can be professional with all of the bells and whistles.

Page 8 is only contact information, emphasizing I’m a Cartersville native. Page 9 has suggested questions for interviews, broken up into three sections focused on the author, writing in general, and specific questions about the novel, Restoring Grace. Since I’m both the author and publisher, my contact information for each is the same. This is typical if you are a self-published author.

Page 10 starts the prologue chapter of my novel, Restoring Grace and continues through page 14, where at the end, I list the book details along with the photo of the front cover. I end with publicity contact information for myself for any inquiries that people might have.

MEDIA KIT and YOU
As a first-time author/publisher, I’m pleased how this came out and hope the effort I’ve taken to create a media kit and press release will pay off. I’m sending out my media kit to local newspapers and other PR opportunities.
If you’re a self-published author, please consider creating a media/press kit. It can be simple or complex, it’s up to you. If you have questions, please feel free to reach out and ask me. I’ve done research and would love to help you make that leap as well.
Writers need to stick together and support one another.
Until next time, may God’s grace surround you,
