God has a sense of humor. He’s just plain funny! Don’t let anyone tell you different.
I love that about Him! Humor is important to me, because it helps you get through the dark days, and I’ve found in my lifetime, there have been a lot of dark days.
BUT… this is a funny story.
One day, out of the blue, I told God that I would like to see a two-humped Camel.
Dear God,
I’d really like to see a 2-hump camel in my lifetime.
-Me
To this day, I’m not sure where it came from, but I think I was watching a television show and saw a one-humped camel and starting thinking. I had been to zoos many times in my childhood, but only remember seeing one-humped camels. That wasn’t what I wanted to see, I really wanted to see one with TWO humps.
I didn’t think anything of it but just KNEW God would need to send me to a foreign land to see my two-humped camel.

I KID YOU NOT, TWO WEEKS LATER I was driving home, and only five miles from my house is a petting zoo. Pettit Creek Farms had a two-humped camel walking around the grassy field.
FIVE MILES FROM MY HOUSE!
I nearly drove off the road because I couldn’t believe my eyes. Saying out loud, “God you’re good. Funny but good!”
Ever since then, camels have had a special place in my heart- the two-humped kind anyway.

For Christmas that year, my sister cross-stitched a nativity scene with the three wise men on camels. I asked her to cross stitch me one as well, but with only camels. Lots of camels.

This year for my birthday she bought me a little stone camel that I keep on my dresser to remind me- God cares about ALL of the desires of our hearts, we just have to ask Him!
And I tell you: Ask and you will receive. Seek and you will find. Knock and the door will be opened to you. Everyone who asks, receives. Whoever seeks, finds. To everyone who knocks, the is opened. Which father among you would give a snake to your child if the child asked for a fish? If a child asked for an egg, what father would give the child a scorpion? If you who are evil know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will the heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him?
Luke 11: 9-13 CEB
These verses not only tell me that He loves me but that He wants to give me good things. As a parent, sometimes He needs to say not yet, here’s something better, or even a firm no.
BUT I know it’s for my good. That’s a promise in scripture! Romans 8:28 FOR ALL THINGS WORK TOGETHER FOR THE GOOD OF THOSE WHO LOVE HIM AND ARE CALLED ACCORDING TO HIS PURPOSE!
If my God cares about the SILLY, LITTLE DESIRES of my heart, I KNOW THAT HE CARES ABOUT THE BIG STUFF.
I’ve mentioned many times in my blog posts that I’m still waiting for God to fulfill some promises, some I’ve been waiting YEARS… but I only have to see my two-humped camels to KNOW God still cares, He still wants to take care of me. He’s still working on my prayers.
That Camel showing up two weeks after my prayer was in the works long before I spoke it aloud. God knew time/fate would merge and my prayer comes true. Just because I don’t see Him working, doesn’t mean He isn’t.
If you’re waiting, praying, and hoping for more… an answer to prayer, please hold on. Look for your own sign, your own two-humped camel to help you hold on to hope.
Jesus said that if we ask, HE WILL ANSWER!
Seek and YOU WILL FIND!
Knock and the DOOR WILL OPEN!
Until next time, may God’s grace surround you,
