Behind the Curtain

Editor & Friend, AKA my Mom

This past Saturday, I had the privilege to throw my mother a surprise birthday party! It was her first birthday party ever and so many friends came out on a cold, November evening to celebrate my sweet mother. I can’t tell you all the kind things said but it was all about how wonderful she is and how blessed everyone felt to know her.

It was wonderful for her to hear these words from friends and family. She doesn’t always understand how truly special and unique, she truly is, to not only me and my family but to others, she blesses with her love and kindness.

I’ve truly been blessed to have her in my life. She’s been not only a mother, but friend, counselor, confidant, sneaky co-conspirator, shopping partner, BFF, and on and on I could go.

One of the most wonderful ways our relationship has grown has been through my writing as she has helped me edit my books.

She has edited every one of my novels, multiple times, chapter by chapter. Sometimes waiting weeks in between chapters, she has patiently waited for me to finish each novel. No matter how long it takes. She reads, edits, and most importantly encourages me throughout the entire process.

When I have problems deciding where the novel needs to go next, she talks through it with me, giving insightful suggestions and ideas.

It was my mom who said I didn’t need to hire someone to design my covers but that she KNEW I would be able to create wonderful covers myself. I didn’t believe her and had found someone to design all three covers for NINE HUNDRED DOLLARS, but some unexpected medical bills at the beginning of the year forced me to reconsider spending that money.

The Grace Series: Novels One – Three

On a leap of faith and trust in her believing in me… I decided the covers. She not only saved me nine hundred dollars but gave me the confidence I didn’t have. With her encouragement, I was able to format my novel, create all promotional products, set up a website and more.

editorGod brings people into your lives to help you and get you where you need to be. Some people are only around for a short time, some a moment and others a few years. I’m so grateful my mother has been in my life. She’s an inspiration to me and a constant reminder of true Grace.

If you ever need encouragement, meet her for coffee. She will lift you up and remind you of how you are loved by a GREAT God. By the end of your drink, you will feel uplifted and ready to take on the world.

I KNOW, she’s done that for me MANY TIMES!

Her birthday is on November 14th and if you see her, SAY HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

Until next time, may God’s grace surround you,
